Following the publication of a report on this topic, VLIR organizes a seminar on this topic. Experts will discuss the major findings emanating from the 2010 report and illustrate best practices in Flemish universities.

Social sciences and humanities do count!
The number of scientific publications has a significant impact on the public support for Flemisch universities.
Research output in social sciences and humanities is not fully captured as the so called web of science databases are not taken into account a majority of publications in these disciplines. Therefore VLIR helps to develop a specific Flemish Academic Bibliographical Register.
Starting in December 2010, this database collects a wide variety of publications for Social Sciences and Humanities in magazines, books and proceedings.
Flamenco shows the way to internationalization
The Flanders Agency for Mobility and Cooperation (Flamenco) is our partner supporting the internationalization strategies in institutes for higher education.
Recently Flamenco created a textbook covering the conceptual framework and practical routines related to the internationalization of Flemish academia.
VLUHR is born
Following Decree XIX on Flemish higher education a new umbrella organization has been created covering universities and colleges for higher education, the so-called VLUHR (Vlaamse Universiteiten en Hogescholen Raad).
VLUHR will operate as the interface between all institutes of higher education and public administrations. Furthermore, VLUHR will have a specific responsibility for education policy.
