Parliamentary debate on the future of higher education
The president of the Flemish Interuniversity Council was invited by an ad hoc parliamentary commission to express his views on the language policy in higher education. The hearings of this commission are part of an in-depth analysis of the higher education system. A number of stakeholders and experts participate in this society-wide debate that will result in an official position paper of the Flemish government.
Member of parliament Fientje Moerman presides the hearings that cover a wide range of topics such as integration between universities and other institutes for higher education; differentiation between professional and academic learning outcomes; the positioning of schools of arts; internationalisation etc.
VLIR expertise implemented in Luxemburg
Mid 2007 the VLIR Quality Assurance Unit was asked to organise the quality audit for the University of Luxemburg. The Luxemburg authorities now have confirmed their trust in our services and VLIR is to bring in its expertise in the follow-up of the evaluation report published in 2009. A staff member of the VLIR Quality Assurance Unit is currently assisting in the set-up of the procedure and will be the academic secretary in the committee of international experts responsible for the evaluation.
